Expanding youth services in the North Island

The Ministry of Health is seeking Requests for Proposal (RFPs) for youth services in the Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Tairāwhiti, and Whanganui DHB areas. These services will build on a range of supports already available or being established around the country to increase access to, and choice of, primary mental health and addiction services for young people.

The ages 12 to 24 are a time of rapid change and development, and are when people are at the highest risk of developing mental health problems and psychological distress.

By providing a range of services to rangatahi that support wellbeing, we’re aiming for early intervention and prevention, which have been proven to make a significant difference to young people and set them up well for the rest of their lives.

There is no “one-size-fits-all” approach and the needs of young people vary across a range of different factors, so we are looking to provide choice in the support options available.
