It is Hāpai te Hauora’s pleasure to bring to you the first E-News for the Māori Mental Health and Addictions National Coordination Service – “Tātaihono”. Tātaihono means to engage and connect, and we are hoping that this service provides an opportunity for Māori providers to engage and connect, and collectively pave a way forward from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This monthly newsletter is just one platform by which we look to stay connected and informed in the Māori mental Health and Addictions space, sharing Māori innovation and ingenuity – strong Māori responses that emerged of COVID-19. We are hoping to enable space of information sharing, collaborative approaches to designing psycho-social responses to mental health and addictions in the wake of COVID-19 and ensuring we remain connected to one another.
We look forward to working alongside many of you who have contributed to the Māori mental health and addictions sector thus far, and we are excited about the role we will play in the next part of this journey to support the Māori mental health and addictions service providers and, in turn, whānau and communities across Aotearoa.
Mauri ora,
Janell Dymus-Kurei
National Coordinator
